If your floppy drive has no shroud around the pins, if the power connector has ever been plugged in such that it’s misplaced on the pins and then run the computer was run with it that way, the circuits on the drive’s board are likely mms have been fried, and if so, the floppy drive will never work properly after that, on any computer.

If you don’t have a floppy drive, you can get a CD image diagnostic utility from mss hard drive manufacturer’s web sites, but obviously you would need to make a burned CD, preferably a CD-R for best compatibility, on another computer if you need to.
